  4. The Heartbleed Online Bug and what it means for you?

New mobile app an e-Health world first for people with bleeding disorders

“The official launch of a new mobile application makes Australia a world leader in assisting people with bleeding disorders, the Assistant Minister for Health, Senator Fiona Nash, said today. Launching the National Blood Authority’s new MyABDR app in Canberra, Minister Nash said the “globally-unique” smartphone app changes the way people with bleeding disorders, such as haemophilia, monitor and treat their condition. “MyABDR enables people with bleeding disorders and their carers to record bleeds and their home treatments in real time,” Senator Nash said. “These details are immediately listed on their clinical record in the Australian Bleeding Disorders Registry (ABDR) and accessible by their clinicians. This enables clinical staff in supporting hospitals to provide more timely and targeted clinical care to improve health outcomes for their patients.” Heartbleed Online Bug What is it? An encryption (method of data security) flaw called the Heartbleed bug is already being called one of the biggest security threats the Internet has ever seen. The bug has affected many popular websites and services — ones you might use every day, like Gmail and Facebook — and could have quietly exposed your sensitive account information (such as passwords and credit card numbers) over the past two years. What do i need to do? Essentially, according to the available list of sites affected (see below) just login as normal and change your password to a more secure one (or a different secure one) How can i do this efficiently and quickly? You can:

  1. Refer to the articles below and go through each listed site individually and manually OR
  2. Go through your list of password with the LastPass Heartbleed Checker (Free and doesn’t require registration):
  3. Create a LastPass Account (Free) and use the clever diagnostic to tell you which sites you should focus on.
