My 3 Key Learnings
- 2014 is the year of wearable technology. 80% of people now have smartphones, and the quantified self-movement is driving more and more healthcare devices (previously health care practitioner only) into our patient’s hands.
- We live in an era of collaborative patient centric healthcare where a pharmacy must transform into a technology connected community hub. A pharmacist’s role is now data translator and knowledge facilitator. We will soon have capabilities of automation via connected health devices (e.g Mayo Clinic – US) and reduced healthcare premiums (e.g. Insurance companies)
- Technology facilitates and enables best practice processes, but also it use will be decided by the customer/patient, Autism example (e.g. Exam Questions) and Rob’s examples (sleep alarm, idle alerts)
