Q: Really enjoy your show. I’m interested on your take on the current pharmacy POS/dispensing systems. I’m sure you must have covered these systems in one of your podcasts, if you could let me know where to find it. regards Mike

My 3 Key Learnings

  1. Technology does enable our patients to look after themselves better. Makes screening processes like SpotCheck possible/accessible, and can facilitate Australian pharmacies transition to becoming patient centric community hubs with already amazing results. Jonathan’s example from SA, 40-year old pharmacist diagnosed with BCC.
  2. Know and Plan your aims for transitioning to or implementing a multi-channel retailing experience. Chemmart Example of 1. Wanting to ensure the LOCAL feel to each pharmacy was captured, 2. Pricing uniformity, 3. Endless Aisle Shopping Experience, 4. Pick/Pack Decentralised Logistics and Customer Care continuity at store level, 5. Integration with In-store Programs (Loyalty, Wellness Programs).
  3. Don’t disappoint your patients with poor service delivery. You need to actively manage and engage in the behind the scenes processes of replicating your store environment in a digital environment, particularly with management of stock (updates, stock levels, pricing, weights, dimensions, promotions etc.) Your best starting point may be to create a mobile responsive site and focus on creating a multi-channel experience for service delivery, with product delivery a future enhancement or partnership.
